Last night I had a good cry in the shower at the realization that I cannot save my family from their suffering.
The other day when Grandma and I were talking about how frustrating it is to try to come up with a way to get her to Washington, she said, “I’m ready to go home.” This meaning she’s ready to die.
“You are?” I asked. “Yes,” she replied, matter-of-factly.
Then she said something, and I’ll never forget how she said it, tucking her hair behind her ear and looking up at me with a twinkle in her eye, “Heaven is so much more beautiful than here. It has more colors than there are in the rainbow.”
My heart breaks. I cry.
It is so beautifully tragic to be human.
