Megan,
I want you to know I’m so proud of you. You are at the beginning of an epic journey of self-discovery, self-love, connection, & authenticity. You have made the inestimably wise decision to follow your bliss & live a life that’s aligned with who you truly are. Here’s to you, & the great adventure of your life!
Megan, I will not pretend that your life will be easy. You will know tragedy & heartbreak like you cannot now imagine. Yes, you will suffer great losses & it will feel at times like life is not worth living. But I tell you, it is. Oh, it is. You will go on. You will rise like a phoenix after each of life’s cruel blows, & you will grow in wisdom & strength.
You are blossoming now, my love, & your heart is beginning to open. You have finally begun to take those precious baby steps toward vulnerability.
Keep. Walking.
You will have your heart broken.
Keep walking.
You will be betrayed.
Keep walking.
Someone once told you that vulnerability is not a single action but a lifestyle. She was right. You see it turns out that vulnerability is both what makes life so painful and what makes it worth living. Your vulnerability is your strength, as Wendi says. & your vulnerability is the means by which you will connect with the world around you & draw such incredibly rich & loving relationships into your life.
I am so proud of you for choosing to be brave enough to be vulnerable.
You are about to begin to take your art seriously, & that is a very wise choice. You were born an artist & an artist you will always be. Make sure to cherish & refine those visions in your mind as you learn the skills to beautifully express them through your art. Never forget that God is expressing through you, & you are a vessel for beauty. In this way, your life is not exactly your own, & you have a responsibility to express the visions & insights that are given you.
Continue to write. & don’t be afraid to share your writing with the world. You have imagined that perhaps someone would find your writings after you’re dead & that’s when they will be valued & cherished. This is just another way of hiding, my love. We mustn’t hide our truest selves. Your words have power. These journals are filled with your heart’s truest expression, & there are so many who would receive & benefit from your words now! Let your light shine, Megan. You are radiant!
I encourage you to follow your bliss. Pay attention to when you feel joy & continue to move in that direction. Allow yourself to rest. Don’t take life too seriously. Enjoy the little things. Always tell the ones you love how much you love them. Be the one to go first in vulnerable conversations. Be the first to apologize. Be the one who hugs the tightest & the last to let go.
This life is a gift, my love. Receive it. Take it all in. Every joy, every sorrow. It goes by so fast.
Pay attention. Be present. Live.
