Resilience
Portrait study of an African Woman
“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”

About This Portrait
I’ve been fascinated by indigenous peoples for as long as I can remember. They have something that we’ve lost. Instinct. Self-possession. Resilience. I saw a portrait of an African woman & was moved just by her countenance. She exhibited such strength. I had to draw her.

"Wild Woman teaches women when not to act 'nice' about protecting their soulful lives. The wildish nature knows that being 'sweet' in these instances only makes the predator smile.“
